The channels in the ice are made by air bubbles rising up the flanks of the iceberg while it is underwater. So this particular iceberg has not only rolled over, it
is now also at about a 45° angle to what it once was. Its actually suprising how unstable icebergs are. They look vast, solid and immoveable, but they're
constantly changing, and the slightest bump can shear off a chunk, upsetting the balance and making the whole thing roll like topsy.
Shot on Fuji Velvia ISO 50 using a Nikon F5 and an AF 80-200mm f2.8 lens at 200mm. |
