Detaille Island is located in Crystal Sound at the head of the Lallemand Fjord. It was named after a shareholder in the Majellan Whaling Company (of all things !)
and is home to a British Antarctic Survey base that was abandoned in 1959. At 66° 54', this was our southernmost point.
Shot on Fuji Velvia ISO 50 using a Nikon F5 and an AFS 17-35mm f2.8 lens at 20mm. |
