I found much of the scenery in Tierra Del Fuego very reminsicent of Tasmania - from what looked remarkably like button grass, cushion plants up around and above the
tree line and, of course, the presence of Northofagus everywhere. The South American varieties are much larger than the Tasmanian Northofagus gunnii, but it all
combined to provide a real feeling of familiarity.
