Apart from the more well-known wilderness areas, Tasmania is also host to some very charming pastoral countryside. Of all of Australia, it is often said to be the
most similar to England. Now, I'm not saying it's an especially close likeness, but I can understand why early European settlers and convicts might have seen it that
way. That is, of course, unless you were unfortunate enough to end up as a prisoner at Port Arthur or Sarah Island, in which case I suspect Tasmania might have
seemed rather hellish.
