In places on Tarn Shelf are stands of bleached white dead pencil pines, their branches still raised pointlessly to the sky. Unlike other Australian native plants,
many in Tasmania don't seem to have adapted to bushfire (which is no surprise to me, given how wet it was when I was there !)
