A tarn is a small glacial lake, and Tarn Shelf is a long shelf running along the side of a ridge, dotted with a multitude of lakes. This was my lunch spot.
In Autumn the leaves of the only deciduous Australian native (northofagus gunnii - known as "fagus" for short) turn to gold and red - and Tarn Shelf is
covered in fagus - apparently quite a sight. Unfortunately, I was a few weeks too early. Shot on Fuji Velvia ISO 50 using a Nikon F801 and an AF 24mm f2.8 lens. |
