Kanangra is a corruption of an aboriginal word, konangaroo, which apparently means "beautiful". There is also an alternative view that the name is a corruption of Gundungurra, the name of the Aboriginal people who inhabited the southern Blue Mountains (as the aboriginal pronunciation of "g" is interchangeable with "k", phonetically, the two are quite similar). It's a challenge to do this spot justice photographically. But I keep going back to try !
